I saw this in Where Woman Create (my favorite magazine)

About Me

My photo
As I sit and listen to music and contemplate my next move of creativity. My mind floods with ideas possibilities and dreams. Lyrics run in my mind as much as visions of upcoming ideas. I am truly in my element. I started in a Childrens Boutique in down town Edmond, OK in 2007. The name is Cinnamon Bears, Mary the owner has been such a blessing for my creative outlet. I am forever greatful for the opportunities. Selling my work in her store never gets old. I am just as excited today when someone purchases my creations, as I was the first day. Hope you enjoy some of what I do.

Just Because...

Just stick it in your printer and print your own words on the front.

I used paint on this with zebra tissue paper underneath and adorned it with glitzy flowers

This one is for my baby he's nine now but still my baby.

I recently read a post on enjoying the small things blog.  She threw a challenge out for all her readers.  She said the Hallmark challenge to celebrate the everyday stuff.  You know the stuff between all the holidays and special occasions.  The challenge you ask is to send a card to seven people JUST BECAUSE!  You may have a hard time narrowing it down to just seven people.  So by the time I finished reading that blog I was inspired to act.  However these are not Hallmark cards but I had these on hand and decided to do my own.  It's easy.  They don't have to be perfect because the fact that someone is going to get a random card is perfect enough.  So think of who your people are and send a smile.  I bought these cards at Hobby Lobby they are the Value Pack note cards I think there are like 50 in a bag (hence value pack).  Or just go buy some if your not feeling crafty.  You could have your kids do this too.  It's so fun to get something in the mail and hand written makes it even more special.

Have fun!!

Keepsake Baby Book

So Mary asked me (owner of Cinnamon Bears ) if I could personalize a baby book.  She had a customer ask.  Well I said I have been looking at this wooden one on and off for quite some time.  So guess what?  I did, I went and bought this wooden unfinished album.  Oh the possibilities.  I mean my mind was going in all directions.  But here's the deal.  I had to keep it fairly generic for my first try.  Can't wait to do another one.  Sooo without further or do here it is.  Hope it's a hit.

This is how it looked when I bought it.

This is how it looks now.  As you can see it has distressed vintage look.
Pink and Brown is always a safe bet.  I'm thinking about adding a knob or something like a brad
so I can add a ribbon to tie it shut.

This is a close up so you can really see.

Lil Hangers

I came across these and couldn't resist.  They were unfinished so of course I got right on it.  These were as fun as they are cute.  I will be taking these right up to Cinnamon Bears.  I have them for sale in groups of 3.  We will see if any one else finds them as cute as I did.  It's a scorcher outside.  My kids always want to try to cook an egg on the sidewalk.  And of course I say NO!  it will make a mess.  Although I think we did do it one summer and the egg fried right away.  So we threw some bacon in  with a side of biscuits and gravy.  Not really I don't know what happened obviously a real memorable moment.  Maybe that's why they keep asking because it was real memorable for them too.  Any way stay in it's hot! Saw a recipe for ice coffee so I think I'm gonna try it.  Look it up on thepioneerwoman.com.  She's a crack up if you didn't already know.

Happy Fourth!!

Tyler and Meg

This baby is whipped.
On our way to fireworks show.

This is our view every morning.  It never gets old!

I thought this sign was fun.

We didn't have a wedding.  I just like this sign too.  Maybe I have a sign fetish

It has become a tradition for my family to go to Beaver Lake where my parents reside.  Its always a good time and never a dull moment.  With worn out kids and worn out parents when its all said and done.  With the intentions of doing this again sooner than later.  We all file in as quick as we depart.  Leaving is always bitter sweet.  Fellowship with family is catch up time on whats going on in every ones busy lives.  Kids that were once babies are starting new chapters.  Where we once looked like young parents with kids has now turned to seasoned parents with older kids.  Spending the morning sipping coffee and enjoying the quiet before the first sleepy eyed child walks in to plan our day.  Enjoying the views and the smells that nature has to offer.  Snapping pictures and laughing and the occasional push off the dock into the water.  Aunt Wendi and Uncle Delbert are always good to take the kids tubing and they just eat it up. A day on the lake is hard work you know.  Then up for dinner and hanging out.  The firework show with everyone loading into cars and doing a headcount to make sure the gang is all here.  I love it!  Its controlled chaos.  So I  hope you and yours had a nice Fourth of July celebrating our freedom and reflecting on those who have fought and are still fighting for us to keep that in tact. Thank you mom and Leroy for opening your home and always making us feel at home.  I love you both.  God Bless!

Feeling Crafty?

There is a blog that I follow and just love it.  enjoyingthesmallthings.com by Kelle Hampton if you get a chance you should visit this blog she is truly lovely.  If you should decide to visit there is a place to click that says if you are new to this blog click here.  I urge you to do this.  So with that being said she posted a craft a few days ago.  I am always looking for fun that feeds my creative side.  So this is it.

Go to a craft store and get an unfinished wood frame, mod podge and pull out some old magazines.  Start clipping out pictures and words that stick out to you.  Also if you have other embellishments get those too.  For example any tissue paper scrapbook remnants little metal pieces you can paint, glitter and a glue gun.  The sky is the limit with this.  Let your kid inside lead the way.  See what you come up with.  Most of all have fun with an indoor project with your kids.  If you have any old henge's you can connect them and hang them on the wall.

This is one of my all time favorite pictures of Meg and Luke.
Where does the  time go?

Seriously I could make these all day.  I had as much fun finding cool sayings as I did adding them to the frame.  I think I'm gonna do my whole house.  Not really!  But really what else can I get my hands on.  Maybe I can do a henge one and show you later.  Have a supper day

A New Sign

What's new about this is the size.  It's 9.5 inches x 4.5 inches.  I had a request For a bigger
size. The back of the sign is always adorned with a decorative paper.  Pretty darn sweet!
The signs that I usually do are 7 x 2 a lot smaller (well maybe not a lot smaller) but cute too.  I'm digging the larger one however.  I might just start doing more of this size.  To bad I only bought one piece of wood this size or I would do it right now!
Hope everyone is having a SUPER DUPER summer!  While the heat gets to me it doesn't seem to bother my kids.  I can remember being that way once upon a time.  When we would walk miles to the water hole and swim in our unmentionables.  Just kidding I really did not do that!  Anyway keep it cool like temperature cool that is.

Sweet Little Boxes

Little Mary Kate is 1 year notice the number 1

Grace is guess?

bet you can't guess this one

No really guess?

It's been a while since my last post.  So I thought the least I could do is update a bit.  I did these little boxes for a customer that wanted one for each grandchild and a number for each age.  I just think they will love these.  Well except for the youngest Grace.  She will probably wonder what the heck it is.  However, I know these little ones are just as precious as I think these little trinket boxes are. Hope they enjoy them.

OMG I DID IT!!

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! Stick the fork in I am done.  I was happy to do this for Karen but I must say I'm so glad I don't do wholesale any more.  Because after the first few you start thinking of how much you have left and how little time there is to get it done.  Not to mention the major take over of every surface of my house.  No wait that's every day.  Haha not really, well maybe a little. Anyway like I have said before.  It's one thing to make something that someone comes into the store and picks up,  and thinks to themselves ooo I like this and they buy it.  It's totally different to make something for someone that has expectations.  You know the whole unmet expectations or met ones you just never know what you might get.  Can you say STRESSFUL!  Anyway it's done.  Now I'm on to the next project.  I get to do 3 of these babies for some triplets.  Yes it's another expectations thing but hey it's all part of it.  This is a sample of the box for their 1st birthday.

I did this as a sample for the mom because she needed something bigger to put all their first year keepsakes in there.  It's actually cuter than I thought.  I don't usually do these though.  So we will see how it goes and don't you know you will see these later.
Hope all you moms out there had a super Mothers Day!
